Parish Organizations

Below are some of the many organizations that can be found at St. Cecilia.

Collection Counters

If you would like to be part of a group that assembles four times per year to count collections, please contact Dan Zarzycki at 862-209-4271 or danzack62@yahoo.com.

Guard of Honor (Ushers)

The Guard of Honor is present at all church and school functions held in the church, including Mass, First Holy Communion, Confirmation and graduation.  The Guard is comprised of men and women whose duties include, but are not limited to, greeting parishioners and their guests, handing out relevant materials and gathering the collection.  If you would like to join or have any questions, please contact Dan Zarzycki at 862-209-4271 or danzack62@yahoo.com.

Health Ministry

Our Health Ministry offers free blood pressure screenings for parishioners after each Mass on the first full weekend of the month.  If you are a nurse or healthcare provider who would like to help, please contact Carol McGotty at 973-627-8765.

Men's Society

The Men’s Society is open to all men of the parish, regardless of age or marriage status.  Our goal is to provide camaraderie and a sense of belonging while supporting the church by organizing a wide range of service, social and spiritual activities.  We meet the second Saturday of each month in Hayes Hall following the 8AM Mass and Novena.  Please click on the above link for more information.

Prayer Groups

The Light of Christ Prayer Group meets in Hayes Hall each Tuesday evening at 7:45PM for prayer, scripture reading, teachings and fellowship.  You are invited to bring a friend or two, along with your bible.  For more information, please contact Carmen (973-625-1150), Ellie (973-627-5184) or Norma (973-252-4483).

The Contemplative Prayer Group meets every Wednesday in the cry room at the back of the church, from 7-8PM. Contemplative Prayer is an ancient Christian method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of experiencing God's presence within us. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. Please join us! For questions, please contact Mary Daley at maryd911@optonline.net or 862-432-8542.

St. Monica's Guild

The St. Monica’s Guild is a women’s organization whose members promote hospitality, spirituality and prayer.  In addition to hosting receptions for Holy Saturday, Confirmation candidates and to recognize parish volunteers, we also sponsor the renewal of marriage vows and the annual Advent Retreat.  New members are always welcome.  For more information, please contact Lee Ann Mackin at 973-627-5222 or leeann.marty@verizon.net.

Social Justice Ministry

The Social Justice Ministry works to educate our fellow parishioners on the Church's teaching on social justice issues, to promote awareness about the needs of the poor, oppressed, homeless, broken, and marginalized among us and to willingly and lovingly respond to the call of the Gospel.  We participate in Justfaith which is a nationwide instructional program which further defines the social justice parish ministry.  JustFaith is a faith formation process that emphasizes the Gospel message of love, peace, and justice, Catholic social teaching and the blending of spirituality and action.  JustFaith Ministries encourages people of faith to develop a passion for justice and to express this passion in concrete acts of social ministry, such as Operation Helping Hands, Habitat for Humanity, clothing drives, blood drives, Fair Trade Sales, and legislative advocacy.  Meetings are held the third Thursday of the month, in the St. Cecilia School Library, at 7PM.

Soup Kitchen

The Soup Kitchen volunteers, coordinated by Marilou Hahn, cook and serve meals to the needy.  Food is prepared the Wednesday before the third Thursday of every month and transported to the Trinity Lutheran Church on Blackwell Street in Dover the following morning where it is reheated and served.  Please call the rectory at 973-627-0313 if you would like to join.
